Spoiler Alert – No!
I jumped on to the Lotus 7 club site and sought out my fellow builder’s views. Despite some great suggestions and 7 trips to the petrol station with my 5 litre can to make sure I had enough fuel, I still had no signs of life.
I pulled the front (has the longest HT lead) spark-plug and earthed it but no spark. Also, no smell of fuel and no noise from the fuel pump which everyone said I would be able to hear.
Eventually I removed the ECU (underneath the battery folks) and took it back to Derek at Dartford who ten minutes later handed it back saying “yes, there was an issue but we have re-flashed it and it should be ok now”
